As a licensed marriage and family therapist, it’s important to me that clients feel welcomed, seen, heard, and helped. In my work with individuals, couples, families and groups, I encourage clients’ healthy relationships with God, self and others, and I help them to elicit strengths-based responses to life challenges. The term “strengths-based” refers to identifying assets and assumes that people and their relationships have the capacity to grow and change. Identifying strengths shifts the focus away from deficits alone towards processes and responses that promote coping, resilience and transformation.
I consider myself a Systemic-Integrative therapist, because I utilize a variety of modalities and interventions based upon clients’ goals and needs. My work is informed by: Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems, positive psychology, and by perspectives and approaches that are skills-based, somatic-based, compassion-based, context-based, trauma-based, diversity-based, faith-based and bibliotherapeutic.
