What is the difference between coaching and counseling/therapy?
Coaching focuses on prevention (not restoration), the present and future (not the past), the conscious (not the unconscious), behavior (not mental health diagnosis and/or treatment) and the coach’s suggestions (not the client’s ability).
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, but can soften the entry toward further help by serving as a bridge into therapy for those that desire more personal assistance than education or coaching can provide. As a result, coaching may enhance and expedite a later, therapeutic process.
